The Challenge

Mobile Installation Technologies (MIT) is the nation’s largest and most trusted provider of Mobile Fleet Installation Services. For 18 years, MIT has been using paper forms in triplicate to document installation completion criteria on every vehicle. Their installers would then spend time transposing data from the paper forms to spreadsheets, which were shared in the cloud and used for reporting. This business process was time consuming, error prone, and not scalable. Every project was a little different, so the forms had to be generic in order to accommodate various types of data input.

The Requirements

MIT was seeking a more scalable and user-friendly method of collecting and reporting data on their installations. Their requirements were:

Customizable forms – They needed to be able to easily build forms to match the data collection needs of each new project.

Mobile Ready – The forms must be able to be completed on tablets or smart phones.

Photos and Signatures – The forms must have the ability to attach jobsite photos and e-signatures.

Offline Capability – Installers are often working in remote areas without Internet, so the forms needed to be able to be completed offline, then auto submit when network connection was available.

Google Sheets Integration – The form data needed update Google Sheets files in real time for reporting purposes.

Edit Functions – Submitted forms needed to be editable, to correct errors.

The Solution

CMH Technology Consulting researched many mobile forms providers, as well as looked at building a product from scratch. We created a cost benefit analysis on each company, and based on MIT’s requirements, we settled on a solution using ProntoForms. To ensure this was the best fit for MIT, we set up a demo instance, and ran a small pilot. The feedback was very positive. MIT is now using this solution for all future projects.
